Microsoft today showed several new features designed to make its Bing Maps more true-to-life -- incorporating Flickr images into streetside views, adding indoor panoramas, making it possible to see live video from specific locations on a map, and using its Worldwide Telescope to give users a view of the sky.
Blaise Aguera y Arcas, Bing Maps architect, demonstrated the features at the TED conference this afternoon, and he shows some of them in the video below. More details are available in this Bing blog post.
The Streetside Photos feature in the video above is set to be available today as a technology preview. The other features have yet to be publicly launched.
Also see coverage from the TED event by Greg Sterling of Search Engine Land and Kara Swisher of AllThingsD, who notes that the company demonstrated the live video feature with a feed from Seattle's iconic Pike Place Market.
