Bellevue’s Ignition Partners, a venture capital firm, announced yesterday that they have invested $9.2 million in Bromium, a San Francisco-based startup developing enterprise security for mobile devices and cloud computing.
Ignition appears to be heavily invested in cloud technology. Earlier today, Ignition led the investment of $10.5 million in funding for StorSimple, a California enterprise cloud storage company, marking the third California company the VC firm has backed this week.
On Tuesday ScaleXtreme, a Palo Alto-based cloud computing company, announced that Ignition had led a $11 million investment round.
Ignition has invested in at least five Seattle-area startups this year, including Swype and Tier 3. They are also heavily invested in the Bay Area, with $2 million to cloud video encoding company Zencoder in April.
“Second quarter is typically a pretty busy time to be investing,” said Frank Artale, partner at Ignition. Announcements are just now being made, he said, adding, “It’s not just a flurry; we’ve been making investments all year.”
Artale said he has confidence in Bromium.
“Virtualization is very well suited to address, and this team is the very best in the business.”
