Skype has released Skype for Windows 5.5 beta, which builds upon last year's integration with Facebook. The new version now includes support for Facebook Chat, allowing users to instant message Facebook friends directly from Skype. The beta also includes a Skype contact tab dedicated to Facebook friends, and a new call control toolbar. The company hasn't said when the final version will be released, but the beta is available as a free download.

The NYT cites a new report from research firm Forrester, which found that Windows XP still leads in the enterprise desktop world (though it's dipped from 67.5 percent in 2010), and Windows 7 is now in use on 20 percent of corporate desktops as of March 2011. Apple is gaining in the enterprise space, jumping from 9.1 percent to 11 percent of the corporate desktop. Linux has roughly maintained its small 1.4 percent hold.
